The Martin Totty Prizes

Martin Totty (Economics 1978), Chief Executive of Barbon Insurance Group, awards six end-of-year prizes, including the Martin Totty Prize for Outstanding Entrepreneurship.

Thomas Lansdowne, BA (Hons) Economics with French and Louis Adams, BA (Hons) Economics with French

Thomas and Louis founded London Accent while living and working in Paris on their year abroad. With its target market being Start-Ups and SMEs in France, the company provides affordable translation and localisation services to aid its clients in their international development.

Sandy Tsin, BA (Hons) Economics

In June 2013, Sandy took over the management of Pulp Friction Ice-Cream Tricycle CIC, a social enterprise which employs people with learning difficulties at local events.

Stephen Moses, BSc (Hons) Economics

Stephen set up Audiozips, a company whose product is a tangle free headphone which operates by a simple zip mechanism.

William Morgan, BSc (Hons) Economics with Hispanic Studies

In October 2011 William launched Lick magazine which is a free magazine distributed across Nottingham, supporting local art, music, creative writing and design, funded primarily by advertisers.

Aaron Salamon, BSc (Hons) Economics with Chinese Studies

Aaron was the President and acted as Managing Director of SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). SIFE was ranked in the top four out of 42 SIFE teams in the country under Aaron's leadership. View a video about Aaron's work.

Adam Fine, BSc (Hons) Economics

Adam established a five-a-side football business in South Africa.

Mr Totty said:

The University gave me the platform on which to build a career. I've made my gift because at this time of my life I can afford to give a little bit back to a few people so that they might have a similar experience to mine, so that they can take the opportunities this University will give them and build their own success in a world that's much tougher than when I left University.
