Vincent Anesi

Professor of Economics

"Many people's curiosity in the subject of political economy amounts to scanning the headlines about the latest Budget to see whether the price of a pint or the cost of fuel is about to go up again. But that in itself shows everyone has some kind of interest - both passing and vested - in how politics and economics interact and, more specifically, how political forces influence the economy.

My research looks at this area in detail, including taxation and redistribution, regulation of the labour market and constitutional political economy. It’s intriguing stuff - you never look at a glass of beer or a petrol pump in quite the same way again."
