The Nottingham School of Economics (NSE) is one of the premier Economics departments for research in the UK. NSE was rated 5A in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). In the most recent 2008 RAE, NSE ranks 3rd in the UK, behind only Oxford and Warwick, on the "research power" measure - which takes into account both quality of research and the number of research-active staff who were returned in the RAE. On the "grade point average" measure NSE ranked sixth in the UK.
NSE enjoys an international reputation for research and scholarship of the highest quality. The School promotes an active research environment which fosters collaborative research links both within and external to the University.
