Description

Women Secondary Headteachers – Pass it On is a free day-long event at The University of Nottingham and is supported by the Economic and Social Research Council.

The aim of the event is to encourage women in secondary school headship to identify ways to support women and marginalised groups of colleagues into headship. Links will be made with the Equality Act (2010) and the Public Sector Equality Duty (2012) that requires schools to publish information about their objectives designed to:

  1. eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
  2. advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
  3. foster good relations across all protected characteristics - between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it

Dr Kay Fuller will share her findings from research projects focussed on women and gender in educational leadership. Currently leading the full-time and summer school programmes for MA Educational Leadership and Management, she is also a former deputy headteacher and initial teacher educator. Kay has worked in five mixed comprehensive schools in three local authorities.

Speakers will include:

  • Professor Kiran Trehan, Professor of Leadership and Enterprise Development, University of Birmingham
  • Amanda Pearce-Burton, Founder and managing Director of Formation Training and Development, Nottingham
