Students of the School of Education's Creative and Professional Writing Degree have published an anthology of their work 'Into the River'. The launch event held at the Angear Visitors Centre, Lakeside, University Park, 17 June was well attended. The audience were treated to a wide range of readings and performances which were at times, moving, thought provoking and humorous.
This book and event are not the only success stories from the students in this group. Mike Wareham has a 1000 word short story. Rhian's Story, published in a forthcoming Welsh-themed anthology from Leaf Books. Tracey Holland's entry for the Brit Writers Award has made it though to the third round of judging. And Deborah Stevenson has a poem in the upcoming special edition book published by designer Louis Vuitton. The book features illustrations by Turner Prize-winning artist Chris Ofili.
The next opportunity to see performances from the anthology group will be 12 July as part of the Shakespeare Street Exhibition Lunctime Lecture series.
Into the River is now available from the School of Education for £5, and a set of postcards featuring artwork to accompany the text are available for £2, including postage.
