MA in Education (flexible)

Online: January and July start dates 

This is a flexible MA with two starting points in the year, either July or January. Each module and its assessment is spread over a period of almost 6 months and then the next module commences. The dissertation takes 8-12 months normally. The overall programme (for those without credit) has a minimum duration of 24 months and is normally expected to be completed in 28 months maximum.

Course structure

This is a modular programme of study (1 core and 3 electives)

It may be possible to study a face-to-face module eg at our block study in Kuala Lumpur, Summer School in Nottingham, block study at other times of the year. Please request a module catalogue.

Teaching philosophy and materials

We believe that learning is most effective (especially for teachers, given their role) as part of a learning community. You will therefore be encouraged to interact with other module participants and with module tutors via WebCT, email, Skype and any other appropriate media.

* You may be able to bring up to 60 credits from previous study, either at the University of Nottingham or elsewhere, which will reduce fees pro rata.

The fees for January/July 2013 will be £7,020 with other award fees set pro rata.

 

Entry Requirements

This programme is designed to meet the needs of practising educators such as teachers, lecturers, learning support staff etc. It is essential to have day-to-day access to the internet via a broadband or equivalent connection. The academic requirements for entry to the course are:

  • a good first degree with at least second class honours
  • relevant experience  

 

Applicants whose first language is not English must, as a minimum, fulfill one of the following conditions:

  • IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
  • TOEFL 87 (no less than 21 in listening and writing, 22 in reading and 23 in speaking)
