Teacher Training: Physics with Maths PGCE

Course Overview

Physics and mathematics are two key disciplines in understanding our increasingly technological world and are important in preparation for work in many areas. This course will provide you with a grounding in how to become an effective teacher primarily in physics (to key stage 5) but also in mathematics (to at least key stage 3).

 During the course you will:
• consider the nature of knowledge, skills and conceptual understanding
   in physics and mathematics and how these are organised in the
   curriculum;
• explore how young people learn and how their developing knowledge
   can empower them to make sense of the world around them;
• gain experience of teaching effectively in ways that can help pupils
   learn and develop confidence in their abilities in physics and
   mathematics and help them foster positive dispositions towards these
   subjects.

The course will give you opportunities to work with expert teachers of physics and mathematics in our partner schools who work closely with university tutors and colleagues to ensure you have an excellent preparation for teaching both physics and mathematics.
