Summer School Checklist
Please use this checklist and the information below to ensure that you have taken the appropriate action, where required, and please keep to deadlines given.
International students (in addition to the above)
Finalise travel arrangements
If you are an overseas student, to avoid unnecessary delays when arriving at a UK airport, you should carry the following in your hand luggage:
- Statement relating to your student status (offer letter)
- Visa (if required)
You are advised to take out insurance for the duration of your stay in the UK, to cover travel, loss of luggage, personal belongings, accidents etc. The International Office website has lots of helpful information for our overseas students.
You must register online* before the course start date so you can access resources that you will need on day one.
If you are a new student you will be sent registration information from the Admissions Office. If you are a returning student you need to re-register using your University username and password at the start of the new academic year (September).
* If you require further information please see the University guidance on online registration (ignore the dates).
Apply for a University Card
Your University Card is a multi-function card and is vital for your studies as without it you will not be able to gain access to the Djanogly Learning Resource Centre or borrow any books.
Returning students: Please bring the card you were issued with last year. If you have lost your card (or forget to bring it with you), you will be asked to pay for a replacement.
New students: Once you are confirmed as a student you can then apply for your University Card. For this you will need a digital photograph. Your card will be ready for collection at Induction.
Apply for a parking permit
If you are commuting to our campus by car, you will need to arrange a parking permit before you arrive. Parking charges will be confirmed for 2018, current rates is approximately £7 per day, however arranging a permit in advance will qualify you for a reduced rate of £5 per day.
We will provide further instructions nearer Summer School on how to arrange your parking permit. You will need to ensure you arrange your parking permit no later than 24 hours before you are due to arrive in Nottingham, as we will need time to process your request.
If you are staying in a Hall of Residence, you will receive a parking permit for the duration of the Summer School free of charge, which will be organised when your accommodation booking is made.
