Research Ethics

The School of Education has adopted the British Educational Research Association's Revised Ethical Guidelines for Educational Research (2004). All School of Education researchers are expected to abide by them and work according to their principles.

These pages include:

  • Research Ethics Approval Procedure for Postgraduate Research Students (including MA Research Methods Students)
  • Research Ethics Approval Procedure for Postgraduate Taught Students
  • A Reading List
  • An Information Sheet and Consent Form Checklist
  • Information about the Data Protection Act
  • a Useful Forms Section

You should also become familiar with the university's Policy on Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults and determine whether you need to apply for Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure. Go here for more information.
