Self Directed Learning Event
105/6, Level 1, Hallward Library
On Thursday 19 March, the Centre for Integrative Learning will be hosting a bite size Self Directed Learning themed event where two of our funded Project Leads will be giving a 15 minute presentation each on their projects followed by an informal Q&A.
It is a chance for those that have undertaken some activity in the area of self directed learning, or for those new to the issues involved, to come together over a light lunch between 12-2pm.
The speakers will be:
Paul Garrud, Assistant Director of Medical Education, GEM
Student-specific study strategy support: integrating appropriate approaches to learning. This project builds on an existing academic guidance and support structure comprising a personal mentoring system that includes frequent action planning, regular formative assessment, and reflective portfolio coursework. It adds a student-centred, integrated set of support resources – services, tools and modes of support.
Janice Yelland-Sutcliffe, Project Co-ordinator and Science Communicator
Using public engagement projects to enhance and develop creative learning and teaching in science and engineering. This project involves experimental and interactive activities that are then applied to real situations. It requires students to take on a multidisciplinary approach and apply interdisciplinary skills and knowledge of communication and project management.
The event is for all members of staff, postgraduates and student groups interested in teaching and learning developments so please feel free to forward the information.
If you would like to attend, please let Gina Slater know so they can confirm catering.
