Follow these steps to give an item to a resident that you cannot see:

  1. Click Inventory at the bottom of Second Life to open your inventory folders
  2. Locate the item you want to give away
  3. Open the Search window by clicking Edit > Search and select the People tab
  4. Enter your search criteria (their avatar name) and click Search to receive the search results
  5. Click on the name of the correct avatar to see their profile on the right
  6. Drag and drop the item from your inventory in to the Give item box of their profile
  7. You will receive confirmation when they have accepted the item

You can give away any item in your inventory that you have permission to copy and transfer. For example objects, scripts, notecards and landmarks can all be given away.

If you do not have copy and transfer permissions it will say 'no copy' or 'no transfer' after the item's name and will create an error message if you try to give it away. This is normally caused when you have been given an item from someone else and they have not given you full rights to it.
