How do I navigate through Second Life and where can I go

Most regions of Second Life are open for anyone to visit. If you try to walk into an 'off limits' area, then you will see 'no entry' signs and won't be able to go any further. If you try to teleport somewhere you're not allowed you will return to your previous location. There are several ways to teleport to new locations: Search
You can also search using the Map, which you can open by clicking the Map button at the bottom of the screen. Click here for a video tutorial on searching. Landmarks While travelling around Second Life you will often be given landmarks to various locations. You can access your landmarks at any time by following these steps:

When viewing a SLURL in your web browser you will see a map of the area it teleports you to and a teleport button. ![]() Simply click Teleport to open Second Life on your computer, enter your password if you are not already logged in, and you will be offered the chance to teleport directly to the location. When reading articles on Second Life on the web you will often see SLURLs to locations that are being referred to. Tutorial key

Easy to achieve, little or no techinical skill required. E.g. The ability to use MS office.

- Intermediate
Already using e-learning to support teaching and learning, for example you may already have a WebCT course.


- Experienced
Well versed in the use of e-learning technologies. E.g. The ability to create interactive content or use an image manipulation package.
