tbcHow to allow guest access to a WebCT Course

Tutorial overview

If you would like to allow guest access on your module to a student or member of staff who is already registered to use WebCT you can do so, as long as you know their University username.

This tutorial is rated as - 2 Computers - Moderately technical

You'll need the following software - Internet explorer, firefox - any web browser

You'll need the following hardware - A modern PC connected to the internet

The other factors might help - A WebCT course already set up

You'll need to work through the following steps:-

  1. Log into WebCT
  2. Click on the Teach tab
  3. From the left hand Instructor Tools click on Grade Book
  4. Enter their username in the box provided
  5. Click in the box to the left of Auditor (the Auditor role presents the same view as Student, but disallows use of interactive tools, such as Discussions and Assessments).
  6. Click on Enroll
  7. Click on Save
  8. This individual will now be able to access your course

If you wish to allow access to someone who is not already registered to use WebCT please contact the Learning Team at learning-team-support@nottingham.ac.uk and we will supply you with information about what you need to do to achieve this.

Possible benefits - Blogs allow you to let people know your opinions and invite comments and feedback. They are a good way to let people know your news as well as discuss topics you are interested in.

Ideas on how to use this - Why not set up series of blogs around a particular topic, and see how your ideas develop as people give you feedback.
