tbcWhere can I build my own objects in Second Life

Tutorial overview

Use this guidance to find out about where you can practise your building skills.

There are areas called sandboxes in Second Life that are built specifically for visitors to create their own objects and experiment with scripting. There is a public sandbox available on The University of Nottingham's Web Campus. The sandbox is on the southwest corner of the island, behind the sand dunes.

Anything built here will be deleted after two hours. Therefore you must make sure that objects you want to keep are saved to your inventory when you have finished. Instructions can be found in the sandbox if you are unsure how to do this.

Because of the temporary nature of anything built in a public sandbox, you will need land to build objects or buildings that you want to use for a longer period of time. Although it is possible to purchase land yourself, you should first contact the IS Learning Team who may be able to allocate land on the Web Campus for you to use.
