Research
Our strategic research themes each combine fundamental, curiosity-driven research with application-driven research, driving the development of advanced new materials. These new materials have excellent potential to catalyse engineering progress and ultimaterly to provide benefit to society.
We attract funding from industry, the defence agencies, the national Research Councils and European agencies and enjoy stimulating and rewarding collaborations of the highest calibre which cut across the international academic, and industrial, materials' communities.
Membership of UNIMAT enables Group access to University-wide materials-orientated equipment, expertise and collaborations, for instance in the Schools of Medicine, Electronic Engineering, Physics and Chemistry; these intra- and inter- School connections continue to create exciting new lines of interdisciplinary materials' research.
