Facilities

The faculty continues to invest in the facilities within all the engineering departments to enhance the student learning experience. As befits a university with a strong research reputation, we have excellent study-orientated facilities including modern well equipped lecture theatres, excellent IT facilities and an expanded multi-media based library provision in both the main Hallward Library and the George Green Library of Science and Engineering. Every year around 850,000 items are borrowed from the University’s 12 libraries. Together these libraries provide access to:

  • Over one million printed volumes
  • Electronic journals and databases
  • Digital materials
  • Manuscripts and Special Collections, home to an extensive collection of materials covering a wide range of subjects and periods.

The University adds around 35,000 new books and 50,000 new journals to our resources every year. And we provide and maintain access to a growing number of journals - currently there are some 13,000 available. Library users have online access to most library collections, including electronic journals and databases.

The Coates Building has two attractive cafeteria areas where students can gather to enjoy a hot or cold lunch adjacent to the principal academic areas and staff.
