Outreach

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are subjects that the government has identified as being absolutely critical to the UK’s future prosperity and global competitiveness. Whilst the sciences, design and technology and maths are all studied at school, many pupils have misconceptions regarding engineering.

Our outreach events are designed to inspire school children (aged 11-17) to consider studying engineering at university by giving them a flavour of what our courses entail, and encouraging them to excel in maths and science.

The events are designed around recent technological advances and build on the students' science, mathematics, teamwork and communication skills.

The events range across our five engineering departments:

  • Architecture and Built Environment
  • Chemical and Environmental Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering

To register for any events, please use the enquiry form or email

your requirements, see our newsletter for ideas.
