The School would like to congratulate Beatriz González-Fernández, a PhD student from the School of English who has been awarded the prestigious and much sought-after Overseas Institution Visit grant by the ESRC. Beatriz is the first person in the School to have been granted this award. The award is part of a scheme that provides ESRC scholarship holders with the opportunity to pursue student-led international activities, including establishing research networks, disseminating research findings and attending and participating in relevant seminars in an overseas higher education institution. As part of this award, Beatriz will spend six weeks visiting Western University in Canada and working with Professor Stuart Webb, a leading scholar in the field of Second Language Acquisition and Vocabulary studies. This scheme grants only two awards a year to the ESRC cohort, and covers an extension to the studentship for the time of the visit, as well as travel and subsistence costs. Well done Beatriz!
