Jim Moran

Dr Jim Moran

Dr Jim Moran was interviewed by BBC Radio Nottingham's Verity Cowley this week on DH Lawrence's plays, and some of the works that are perhaps lesser known than his novels. In particular, the discussion focussed on 'The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd', which will be performed at Lakeside Arts this Thursday.

Following the play will be a discussion of the playwriting by Stephen Lowe (author of Old Big 'Ead in the Spirit of the Man); William Ivory (writer of BBC1's Truckers); and James Moran (whose book, The Theatre of DH Lawrence, will be published by Bloomsbury in 2015).

Dr Moran will also be delivering a lecture on 'Lawrence and Drama' this Wednesday 25th September at the Nottingham Playhouse. Admission is free but booking is essential. Please call the Nottingham Playhouse box office on 01773 717353 for availability.

These events all form part of the 2014 DH Lawrence Festival, which celebrates DH Lawrence's life and works with a number of events throughout the county.

Speaking of his involvement in the festival, Dr Moran said: 'I’m delighted to have been working this year with the brilliantdirector Martin Berry, who is bringing The Widowing of Mrs Holroyd tothe stage of the Lakeside Arts Theatre. I also find it a genuine pleasure, as always, to be involved with the good work that is done by the theteam at D.H. Lawrence heritage, who really help to generate such wonderfulenthusiasm for literature in the local area’.

You can listen again to the BBC Nottingham programme at www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p026bpxk until Monday 29th September. Dr Moran's interview begins at approximately 2hrs 20 minutes.
