English Studies Programme

The School of English at the University of Nottingham has long held a worldwide reputation for being at the centre of language and literature research and teaching. Our postgraduate courses, at both Masters (MA) and Doctorate (PhD) level, are very popular and highly regarded.

This innovative and flexible web-based Masters (MA) in English Studies provides an exciting opportunity to specialise simultaneously in several areas of English Studies:

  • Literature 1500 to the present,
  • English Language and Applied Linguistics,
  • Drama
  • Medieval Literature and Language.

It will introduce students to the multidisciplinary dimensions to English Studies and provide advanced knowledge of the current state of scholarship. Students on the programme will develop advanced research skills, have the opportunity to explore a range of specialist topics and construct individual programmes of study according to interests.

More information about the new Masters English Studies programme can be found in the October 2008 edition (page 27) of The University of Nottingham's teaching and learning magazine Hub.

There is also an Audio Introduction to the Approaches to Text entry module that will give you more information about the programme.
