If you are considering applying to the School of English we look forward to welcoming you to Nottingham. We hope that you will enjoy the opportunity to visit us and explore our beautiful University Park Campus.
Campus Tour Days
Throughout the year, the University runs a number of campus tour days at University Park campus. On the day visitors will be welcomed and have the opportunity to attend a welcome presentation (including information on finance and accommodation) as well as a student life talk, hosted by members of the Students’ Union. You will also have the opportunity to go on a guided tour. During the guided tour, current students will show you around University Park campus, taking you to visit the main student areas and libraries as well as give a tour around one of the catered halls and a visit to meet a representative from the School of English. The next campus tour day will be on Wednesday, 24 November 2010. The meeting with the School representative will be at 1.00 pm in A40, Sir Clive Granger building.
University-wide Open Days
Open Days are an opportunity for applicants and those who are considering applying to Nottingham to come and visit us. The University Open Days in 2012 will be held on:
These Open Days give you the opportunity to meet current students and members of staff, hear talks by our academic members of staff and get a taste for what life is like as an English student at the University of Nottingham. You may well find this information helpful whether you end up studying English at Nottingham or elsewhere.
Parents/supporters who are alumni of The University of Nottingham are very welcome to visit the Alumni Office in the Portland Building for refreshments during University-wide Open Days in June and September.
School UCAS Visiting Days
All applicants who receive an offer from the School to study in the following academic year will be invited by letter to attend a School of English UCAS Visiting Day. This is an opportunity for you to find out about School and the University in more detail. You will hear about the School and its courses from members of academic staff, and they will answer any questions you might have.
Single Honours visitors are then given a short tour of the campus by current English Studies students. Joint Honours visitors have an opportunity to visit their other Joint Honours Department/School to meet admissions staff.

All offer holders will receive a formal invitation from the University to attend one of the above UCAS Visiting Days and will be required to confirm their attendance via an on-line booking system. Further information and full instructions will be provided with the formal invitation.
Visiting the School
If you have missed a School UCAS Visiting Day, please come along to the University Open Days in June and September 2012.
You are also welcome to come to Nottingham at any time (the School Office will be open Monday to Friday) to have a look round both the School of English and our beautiful campus.
Where possible we hope to be able to arrange for you to meet an academic member of staff or one of our student ambassadors to discuss the courses we offer and the wider Nottingham experience, though because of pressure on staff time please note that this cannot always be guaranteed. To this end, we would ask that you give us 7 to 10 days notice prior to any intended visit so that a mutually convenient time might be organised for you to get the best out of the day.
