Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to the TOPSIG session, RSPSoc2012, Room QA180, University of Greenwich, London.

The Technical/Operational Procedures Special Interest Group (TOPSIG) is designed to promote and study the technical procedures utilised in the operational use of remote sensing. The group will look to include, but not be limited to, the following aspects of operational remote sensing: hardware; networking; storage facilities; workflows; and dissemination methods.

We hope that our TOPSIG session will attract a large number of the RSPSoc membership, and others, as we all have an interest in the efficient capture, storage and manipulation of the imagery we use.

We are very pleased to announce the following presentations:

1 Victoria Bennett, Centre for Environmental Data Archival (CEDA), RAL Space, STFC:
"e-Infrastructure to enable EO and climate science".

2 Andy Kingdon, Informatec/BGS/NERC:
“InformaTEC, Technology Cluster for data models and Informatics: Conclusions and interactions with EOTech".

3 Sam Almond, Logica:
"The Role of the ISIC facility for Climate and Environmental Monitoring From Space (CEMS) in the Development of Quality Assured Datasets and Downstream Services from Earth Observation Data".

4 David Burridge, Exelis:
“An Overview of IAS Image Compression & Streaming Technology from ExelisVIS”.

5 Andy Horseman, PML:
"Global and regional ocean-colour data processing and distribution".

6 Paul Stephens, DMCii:
Further information coming soon.

7 Paul Aplin, Earth Observation Technology Cluster/University of Nottingham:
"Conclusions from the NERC Earth Observation Technology Cluster".

Please visit http://www.conftool.net/rspsoc2012/ to register for this session.

Joining TOPSIG

Membership of the Group is open to all with a special interest in the technical and operational aspects of remote sensing. Non-RSPSoc members will be encouraged to join the Society. The Group can be found at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/topsig/ If you'd like to join the SIG then send a blank email to topsig-subscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk with no subject or message. You'll then get an automated response asking you to validate your email account.

If you have any questions about the SIG, Yahoo Group or mailing list, then email me at topsigconvenor@ymail.com.

Best wishes,
