Welcome

The Nottingham Doctoral Training Centre will produce the next generation of world-class social scientists as one of only 21 across the UK funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Over the next five years the Centre will support around 200 students to undertake cutting-edge interdisciplinary research that provide insights into some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Applications open for 2013 Student Internship scheme

Description
The ESRC student internship scheme provides current ESRC-funded PhD students with the opportunity to spend up to six months in a non-academic organisation within the public, civil society (voluntary) or private sector to work as part of a team involved with policy and practice development.

Make a real difference to research on the impact of doctoral training

Description
Research Councils UK and the four UK Higher Education funding bodies have commissioned CFE and partners from the Higher Education Careers Services Unit and Sheffield University to carry out research into the value and impact of doctoral training and want to hear from anyone who graduated with a doctorate between 2004 and 2006 as well as supervisors, research centres, alumni offices and networks with links to doctoral graduates who can help contact graduates.
