Ink and toner cartridges from printers (not photocopiers) can be recycled by sending them in their original envelopes or boxes, or new envelopes marked 'Ink Cartridge' to the Post Room at King's Meadow. They are then collected by a company that recycle them.
Recycling Process
Cartridges are quality checked for damage and usability and, where possible, damaged cartridges are salvaged for parts.
Cartridges, which pass the quality checks, are then separated depending on their make and model. They are then packaged ready for sale to remanufacturers for processing.
Printer cartridge remanufacturers put the cartridges through stringent quality checks to ensure that they achieve a level of quality as good as, or sometimes better than, the original equipment manufacturer. In most cases this involves breaking down the cartridges into their main components.
Any damaged cartridges have damaged parts replaced and then they are reassembled in order to be sold again.
