Biography
MICHAEL CARR - DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT AND INNOVATION SERVICES
Michael Carr joins the University of Nottingham as Director of Business Engagement and Innovation Services, after a short period working as a consultant providing guidance to blue chip clients on Economic Development strategy and delivery. Michael will be responsible for the University's Commercialisation, Partnerships and Knowledge Transfer functions.
Previously, Michael led the Business Services team at the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and worked closely with the regional universities, including Nottingham. He was responsible for all aspects of the agency's support to business, including its innovation, inward investment and growth programmes. He also chaired the Regional Development Agency (RDA) Enterprise Directors group and led the RDA network's enterprise and business support policy input to Government.
Michael was previously Chief Executive of Medilink East Midlands and Managing Director of Parema Limited. He has twenty years of commercial experience, primarily aligned with manufacturing. This includes working for Rolls Royce and Courtaulds as well as spending time in the blue chip management consultancy and university sectors.
