Biography

Following a first degree in Music from the University of Manchester, Sandra worked in non-fiction publishing for a number of years including a period as an Open Learning Managing Editor at the Open College. Redundancy allowed her to take the opportunity to pursue an interest in computers through an MSc in Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire, after which she was employed as an analyst/programmer in the public sector. After a career break to bring up a family she qualified as a primary school teacher and taught in Nottinghamshire schools. From 2005-2013 she was the Project Manager at the University of Nottingham Centre for International ePortfolio Development, a role in which she was able to combine her interests in technology and education.

In April 2013 Sandra joined Research & Graduate Services as Project Co-ordinator for CASCADE-FELLOWS, a five-year EU Marie Curie COFUND project offering international fellowships for experienced researchers in Life Sciences. This includes being responsible for setting up and maintaining the programme website and online application portal at www.cascade-fellows.eu. Since 2014 she has been responsible for co-ordination of the whole of the University's wider Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions portfolio, which consists of over 40 collaborative ITN projects, IRSES exchange projects and Individual Fellowships.

Sandra remains a keen amateur musician and plays the oboe in the Nottingham Wind Ensemble.
