Postgraduate Research Courses
Important note for Home/European Union Students studying for an Equivalent or Lower Qualification (ELQ)
The Government no longer provides public funding for some students who are studying for a qualification that is equivalent to or lower than one they already possess. In such case the University will charge a supplement to the fee listed in these tables (see the Exceptional Fees table for the amount of the supplement). If you are unsure of whether you will be liable for the higher rate of fee, you may seek advice from the Admissions Office.
A few courses are exempt from the ELQ policy. This includes initial teacher training courses; courses where the primary purpose is to improve the effectiveness of teachers, lecturers or trainers; courses for which an NHS bursary is payable; undergraduate courses which leads to a first registerable qualification with the General Medical Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health Professions Council (including the professions of dietician and physiotherapist), General Social Care Council, or Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons; and full-time undergraduate courses which lead to registration with the Architects Registration Board. Individual students who are in receipt of the Disabled Studentsí Allowance (DSA) are also exempt.
The fee tables indicate the courses which are exempt from the ELQ policy.
The policy does not apply to postgraduate research students or to international students.
