Engineering and Science Foundation Year

The Foundation Year provides an entry route into many of the Engineering and Science Undergraduate degree programmes at Nottingham and so the options open to you after successfully completing the programme are superb. The Foundation Year is the first step on the way to obtaining your degree.

The Foundation Year is designed for both United Kingdom and international students whose school leaving qualifications do not meet the current admission requirements for direct entry to relevant undergraduate programmes. Applications from mature students or students holding 'non-standard' qualifications and/or relevant experience are positively encouraged.

The Foundation Year has been specifically designed to provide students with the best possible grounding for entry into our wide range of undergraduate degree programmes.  As a result students who successfully complete the Foundation Year at Nottingham are able to progress into year one of their chosen degree subject.  Progression from the Foundation Year to year one is automatic providing students have taken the relevant pathway modules and passed them at the require standard.

All teaching is carried out on the main University campus by academic staff from the Faculties of Engineering and Science.

Graduate engineers and Scientists are creative, resourceful and logical people who enjoy solving problems – the kind of people employers from a range of industries are looking for.  As a result, many of our graduates find excellent employment in engineering, science and industries from finance, health, education and business to product design and manufacture.  The skills and knowledge you gain on our undergraduate engineering and science courses are in demand the world over.
