The MA in French (by Research) is ideal for applicants who already have a clear idea of the research topic they wish to study. Working under the supervision of the member or members of staff with expertise in the field, you will first define the scope and key research questions of your project. You will then devote the rest of the year to researching and writing up your dissertation of 30,000 words. You will also join fellow postgraduates in a full course of research training and attend seminars and lectures organised in the Department and the School. Our downloadable leaflet will give you an idea of the very wide range of specialisms in which supervision is available in the department.
