Current Research

Dr Stefan Engels is a Research Fellow within the Centre for Environmental Geochemistry, School of Geography, University of Nottingham. Stefan's research aims are to better understand natural and anthropogenic processes that drive environmental change in the recent past through analysing materials deposited in lake sediments. In his current project Stefan combines classic palaeoecological proxies and novel geochemical techniques to investigate recent human impacts (including pollution, land development, invasive species, hydrological modification and climate change) on Asian lakes and wetlands. His fellowship is in conjunction with Dr Suzanne McGowan (UoN Malaysia Campus) and Prof Melanie Leng (UoN and BGS) amongst others.
