...to the website for the Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers' Postgraduate Mid-Term Conference 2012. Nottingham School of Geography is honoured to be hosting the conference this year in association with the RGS-IBG Postgraduate Forum. We hope that it will prove to be both as intellectually stimulating and socially enjoyable as always.
This year’s theme is ‘Geographical Reflections’. We would like postgraduates to critically explore the nature of their own work with a view to considering the past, present and future geographies within their sub-discipline and within the wider discipline.
This could include:
However, postgraduates should feel comfortable completely ignoring this theme if they want, or giving it only a light touch. The central aim of the conference is to provide a supportive environment to present your research.
We welcome contributions to this conference from postgraduates from across the UK and beyond. Be it a first year literary review, a second year methodological paper, a third year exploration of data or a fourth year summary of findings, it is hoped that the conference will provide an opportunity to test and float ideas amongst an environment of peers, as well as foster interaction between postgraduates working on similar topics in different departments and disciplines.
So, feel free to browse this website to see the full call for papers, or to learn more about the venue and programme. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via the conference email address (RGSmidterm2012@nottingham.ac.uk). Most of all, we look forward to welcoming you to Nottingham in April 2012.
