The proposed Visiting Fellowship is to enable Professor Nosich of the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences, Kharkov, Ukraine, to work in the Electromagnetics Research Group (ERG) in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Nottingham. We request funding for a total visit period of 9 months, divided into two long visits (of 4 and 3 months duration) and two short (2 week) visits over a period of two years. Professor Nosich's research interests include electromagnetic wave scattering, radiation, propagation and absorption studied by the analytical regularization techniques, with applications to CAE and CAD of antennas, waveguides and other microwave and optical technologies. These areas offer broad synergy with the activities of the Nottingham group and so the Fellowship will offer impetus to much of our research. In particular, expert support will be provided for ongoing projects and feasibility studies under the PLATFORM Grant GR/R90550/01. We propose to integrate the powerful Integral Equation (IE/MAR) techniques into a wide range of our existing numerical electromagnetic simulation codes and apply IE/MAR techniques to emerging application areas for the first time. We will assess, optimise and establish figures of merit for the power, efficiency and applicability of the codes.
