Modelling and Optimisation of Optoelectronic Structures Based on Novel Cavities and WaveguidesPrincipal Investigator: Dr P D Sewell
Starts: 19 March 2002 Value: £94,284 Optical waveguides and microcavities are essential building blocks for
photonic devices and systems. The proposed project will develop innovative
analytical simulation techniques to enable investigation of advanced designs
for novel optoelectronic devices based upon non-standard waveguide and
cavity geometries, The focus is on investigating new physical effects
that can only be accurately modelled by rigorous analytical techniques.
As these techniques provide clear physical insight, the project will yield
high quality designs before costly fabrication is necessary. Complete
validation of the simulations will be performed, which will then be applied
to a wide range of very promising components for a variety of emerging
optical systems. |
