Platform Grant: Electromagnetic analysis, modelling and simulationPrincipal Investigator: Professor C Christopoulos
Starts: 1 August 2002 Value: £380,321 The Platform Grant is intended to support the activities of the Electromagnetics
Research Group (ERG) at Nottingham University. ERG covers a wide range
of analysis and simulation techniques in electromagnetics (Transmission-Line
Modelling, Integral Equation Method, Beam Propagation Method, Free Space
Radiation Method) and applications (photonics, electromagnetic compatibility,
signal integrity). A major theme is the exploitation of the synergies
between these areas to achieve major advances. The combination of different
approaches (hybridisation) to address concurrently different regions of
a problem (e.g. electrically large and electrically small regions) or
physical domains (e.g. electronic, photonic, thermal) and the availability
to the Group of an advanced computer platform provided under the JREI
2000 programme offers the scope for major advances which will underpin
the design of the advanced IT and communication systems of the future.
The support provided will be used almost exclusively to support researchers
involved in pursuing the major themes of ERG, initiating adventurous research,
establishing international links and supporting the growing computational
environment. |
