Determination and optimisation of the electromagnetic effectiveness of equipment cabinetsPrincipal Investigator: Professor C Christopoulos Other Investigators: Professor T M Benson Starts: 30 November 1992 Value: £84,286 Implement an efficient numerical model for determining the penetration
of electromagnetic radiation through thin panels. Validate the model using
analytical methods and manufacturers test data. develop and implement
a modelling methodology to study the penetration of radiation through
three-dimensional cabinets of realistic shapes containing apertures and
wire penetrations. Undertake some experimental work for code validation.
Determine the influence on the shielding effectiveness of cabinets of
material parameters such as dielectric constant, magnetic permeability
and electrical conductivity and physical parameters such as shape and
the positioning of features such as apertures, components and absorbers.
Identify optimum design solutions and methodologies in a broad range of
applications including automotive and information technology equipment.
