From the academic year 2005/06 it will be possible to take the MRes course, Electromagnetics in the Analysis and Design of Communication and High-Speed Systems at the National Institute of Telecommunications (NIT) in Warsaw, Poland.

The content of the course taken at NIT will be the same as that taken at the GGIEMR, however the Generic Research Training, normally provided by the Graduate School at Nottingham will be replaced by a new module, Generic Research Skills for Electromagnetics. This module has been designed to fit the needs of students in Poland and includes Library skills; Building a bibliography; Introduction to managing research; IPR, copyright and plagiarism; Skills of written and spoken English; Effective poster presentation; C programming skills.

Therefore for the Poland Entry stream the course will consist of:

  • 20 credits of non-assessed generic research training.
    Generic Research Skills for Electromagnetics
  • 30 credits of assessed training.
The compulsory module for this course is Research Techniques in Advanced Electromagnetics (30 credits)
  • 130 credits of assessed project based work.

The modules on the Poland entry stream will be taught by the same academics who teach the course in the GGIEMR and the course will be assessed in the same way. Projects will be supervised locally with support from academics in the UK. Students on the Poland course will have access to the University of Nottingham IT and online library facilities and will have email support from Nottingham academics throughout.

All applications to this entry stream should be made to the University of Nottingham using the official University application forms.
