Advice
The Careers and Employability Service supports Arts postgraduates to make the most of their career potential.
Clare Jones is the Careers Adviser for postgraduate students and is based at the Careers and Employability Service. Clare works closely with the Arts Graduate Centre, delivering some of the training courses and providing guidance and support to postgraduate students on an individual basis.
PhDs based in the Business School should contact the PG Careers Service in the School as they have their own bespoke service.
PhDs based at
Sutton Bonington can also see the Senior Careers Adviser who visits the campus on Tuesday afternoons in term time – however these appointments do need to be booked via the online booking system. PhDs should telephone in for an appointment rather than email or telephone Clare Jones or any of the other Senior Careers Advisers directly as the reception staff will be able to respond more quickly to requests for appointments. PhDs may ask to see Clare when they telephone, especially if they are considering an academic career pathway or if they require specific help with application and/or interview preparation.
Support available through the Careers and Employability Service includes:
-
one to one career guidance discussion
PhD students are able to book a Guidance appointment with any of the Senior Careers Advisers by telephoning CES reception on 0115 9513680 (ext 13680). They can, of course, also book an appointment in person by visiting the Careers Service. These Guidance discussions are 30 minute appointments and will take place at the Careers and Employability Service on University Park only.
-
access to on-line and other resources, including;
