Postgraduate research students
Research passports may be required by postgraduate research students undertaking research in the NHS – your supervisor or School will be able to advise you if this is the case.
Section 5 of application form for a research passport
The Graduate School is responsible for signing off Section 5 (pre-engagement checks) of a postgraduate research student’s application for a research passport.
Before making an appointment with the Graduate School to have Section 5 of the form signed, please ensure that Sections 1 – 4 on the form have been completed and signed, and that you are able to bring the following documentation with you to the appointment:
Current photo id
Verification of permission to work/study in the UK
Your CV, so that any gaps in employment can be explored
Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) - if required.
The DBS replaced the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) from September 2012
Occupational Health (OH) check (if required)
Evidence of current professional registration (where relevant)
Please refer to pages 5 and 6 of The Research Passport: Algorithm of Research Activity and Pre-Engagement Checks if you are not certain whether the research you will be undertaking requires you to have a DBS certificate or OH check. If you do require a DBS check, this algorithm will also advise you at what level that check needs to be.
To make an appointment to have Section 5 of your research passport signed, please contact Kathleen Fennemore (firstname.lastname@example.org).
