Studying part-time

If you are a Home or European Union applicant, it is possible to study both Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree courses on a part-time basis.

Applicants for part-time study should note, however, that teaching for both Undergraduate and taught Postgraduate degrees will be alongside full-time students, hence classes will be timetabled Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Unfortunately the School is not able to offer provision for teaching students in the evenings, at weekends or during the University vacation periods.

Undergraduate

For Undergraduate degrees, part-time study means spreading the duration of your course over five to seven years. You may be able to switch to full-time study if you feel your circumstances permit it.

As a part-time student, you will follow the same course structure as full-time students, but you will normally take half the required credits per academic year, i.e. 60 credits as opposed to 120 credits for a full-time student.

For further information about part-time Undergraduate study, please contact Sarah Smith.

Postgraduate

We offer students the opportunity to study part-time for an MA or PhD in the Department of History.

Part-time MA students will normally follow exactly half the course of full-time students each year, and will therefore complete their degree within two years.

For further information about part-time Postgraduate study please contact Mrs Amanda Samuels.
