What is a Fractional Contract?

A fractional contract is used for a University employee who works a fraction of 52 weeks per year on either a full-time or part-time basis.

This type of contract is often referred to as a term-time contract, however, it can be used in term-time or non term-time. It is recommended that a contract does not exceed 42 actual working weeks, as once the annual leave, Bank Holidays and University Closure Days are added, the contract will be close to an all year round contract. A fractional contract includes the same contractual benefits as any all year round contract.
