We are pleased to announce that Dr Ahmed Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, will be delivering HRLC’s 2015 Annual Lecture entitled Raising the Bar: Iran and the Human Rights Council.
The lecture will be chaired by HRLC Co-Director Prof. David Harris and will take place on Monday 9 February 2015 at 5:30pm in room B55, Law and Social Sciences Building.
Dr Shaheed is an internationally recognised expert on foreign policy, international diplomacy, democratisation and human rights reform especially in Muslim States. During his lecture he will discuss the challenges faced by Special Rapporteur’s working on countries that will not accept official visits and outline the country specific human rights issues faced in Iran today.
