ICJ Unit head Dr Olympia Bekou delivers lecture in Thailand

Between 20-24 April 2009, Dr Olympia Bekou, Head of HRLC's International Criminal Justice Unit, will visit key judicial institutions in Thailand.

On invitation by the Office of the Judiciary of Thailand, she will deliver a lecture on 'The International Criminal Court: Prospects and Challenges' at the Judicial Training Institute in Bangkok. She will also meet with senior staff of the Office of the Judiciary of Thailand and the Judicial Training Institute.

In February 2009 HRLC and the Office of the Judiciary of Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding to forge closer ties between the two institutions. Since then, over 170 Judges and Court Officials from the Office of the Judiciary of Thailand have taken part in three capacity-building programmes on human rights and criminal justice, organised by HRLC.
