The Human Rights Law Centre has been awarded a new contract with the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) for the provision of data collection and research services on fundamental rights issues in the United Kingdom.
HRLC has been part of the FRALEX network of legal experts of the FRA for the past four years, producing numerous reports and thematic studies. Now HRLC joins the FRANET team for the next four years and will provide research services not only on legal aspects of fundamental rights issues, but also on their social dimensions. This will be achieved through collaboration with an extensive network of legal and social experts. Under the new contract, HRLC will produce reports and studies also for the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).
The FRA’s objective is to provide relevant EU institutions, bodies, offices, community agencies and Member States with assistance and expertise relating to fundamental rights in order to support them when they take measures or formulate courses of action within their respective spheres of competence to fully respect fundamental rights. The EIGE’s objective is to contribute and strengthen the promotion of gender quality, including gender mainstreaming in all community policies and the resulting national policies, and the fight against discrimination based on sex.
