The National Student Survey (NSS) is open to all final year undergraduates, who have the opportunity to provide feedback on the teaching, assessment, support and learning resources they encountered during their degree.
The NSS results are collected on an annual basis and are then made publicly available to help prospective students make informed decisions about where and what to study.
The University of Nottingham looks carefully at comments made by students in the NSS, and student comments from previous years have led to a number of changes on courses as well as with regard to central provision offered by the University. These include:
-
a guarantee that you receive feedback within 21 working days of examinations and coursework
-
improved computer access across the University and the introduction of PC Finder
-
the introduction of Student Service Centres on all campuses
-
investment in better library provision
In the School of Humanities, there has been investment in the construction of a new building with new teaching rooms, computer facilities, the Digital Humanities Centre and new laboratory spaces. In addition, changes in the School of Humanities reflecting student feedback include:
-
the phasing-in of anonymous marking across the School
-
written individual feedback on assessments
-
greater emphasis on drop-in hours and access to personal tutors
If you want to know more about the NSS or about new developments that the School of Humanities and your department are currently considering, then please come along to one of the Student Experience Forums:
