Funding opportunities for students

The following information is designed to provide some basic details about the main sources of funding open to current and prospective students at The University of Nottingham.


Undergraduate studies

Undergraduate students should use the University's personal cost estimator to get an overview about potential costs, scholarships and external funding available. If you are an undergraduate student from outside the UK, please also see the section on funding information for international students below.


Postgraduate studies

Lillian M Ruff Postgraduate Scholarship 2012

Dr Lillian M Ruff is a graduate of The University of Nottingham who has generously established this scholarship in her name.

There will be one recipient in 2012/13, being awarded a scholarship equivalent to the full cost of the UK/EU fee for a part-time taught MA course in the School of Humanities at The University of Nottingham.

Main Eligibility Criteria:

  • be planning to enrol on a part-time taught postgraduate MA course in the School of Humanities at The University of Nottingham in 2012
  • meet the residency requirements for a 'home' or European Union student, and be liable for the relevant home/EU fee
  • be a self-funded student
  • have a low income which necessitates your continuing to work through your course (please see the application form for required evidence)

The following will also be taken into account:

  • caring responsibilities
  • disability or long-term ill health
  • priority will be given to students studying in the Department of Music

How to apply:

Students intending to start a relevant course should apply to this fund in the summer before their course begins, and no later than the deadline of 31st July 2012.
