South Asia

Nottingham has a proud tradition of research on South Asia, which we are keen to showcase in the 70th Anniversary year of the independence of India and Pakistan.

In September, in conjunction with CLAS, IAPS is holding an India@70 workshop and over the summer IAPS Dialogue organised a special edition focusing on Pakistan and India.

The region's diversity is reflected in the diversity of research that is conducted within the fold of IAPS.

NEW Network on South Asia

Nottingham is excited to be part of the NEW Network on South Asia, which includes the Universities of Nottingham, Edinburgh and Warwick. There are active links between researchers working in these three institutions, whose collaborative research to date has been organised around challenges to federalism in India and research on gendered ceremony in the Indian parliament.

We have close links with colleagues working on South Asia at Nottingham Trent University, and co-organised the 2017 British Association of South Asian Studies Annual Conference.
