Nottingham's research in South East Asia has been linked to single country studies as well as the region's important trade and security links with its neighbours such as China and Australia.
The region's diversity is reflected in the diversity of research that is conducted within the fold of IAPS.
We have particular expertise in the fields of elections (Eadie), culture (Taylor) poverty reduction (Eadie), ethnic tourism (Bott) and hybrid regimes (Adeney).

IAPS Dialogue regularly runs special issues on South East Asia, including on the presidency of Duterte, Cambodia and Islamic radicalism in the region. In 2016, IAPS ran a special series of articles focusing on the presidential elections in the Philippines.
IAPS is very proud of our links with external organisations. These include election monitoring with the People's International Observers Mission in the Philippines.
