Anne

Anne, aged 80, was complaining of back pain. She had smoked for 20 years, had long-term exposure to secondhand smoke and had a strong family history of cancer. A physical examination and a CT scan did not reveal any causes of back pain. However, the scan did reveal a small nodule in one lung that had not been there five years earlier.

Anne’s blood was tested using EarlyCDT-Lung and showed raised levels of an autoantibody associated with lung cancer. Anne had part of her lung removed and has since made a full recovery.

EarlyCDT-Lung was influential in the detection of the cancer and in Anne’s positive outcome.
