Claudia Burkill

Raising money for Children's Brain Tumour Research

Claudia Burkill was diagnosed with Metastatic PineoBlastoma, a rare and very aggressive form of brain tumour, in June 2011. She was just five years old at the time.

Since her diagnosis Claudia has undergone a large number of treatments, including high dose sessions of chemotherapy and a course of twice daily maximum dose radiotherapy. Despite these treatments, Claudia has developed further tumours and her cancer may now be terminal.

Claudia’s Cause, the charity set up by her parents, has been instrumental in raising money for brain tumour research. In October 2013 Claudia’s Cause raised £100,000 in just 13 days for the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre at The University of Nottingham.

Speaking about her daughter’s condition, Claudia’s mum Andrea says:

It is a fact that she will die; it is also a fact that she is only still alive today due to the hard work and efforts of the Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre at Nottingham University.
