We support our research community and the discoveries they make, by providing an outstanding environment and sufficient resources to enable blue-sky and translational research to flourish.  Our investment in research is evident: currently 90% of our research is rated as being of 'international standard'.

The Campaign will continue to build upon our existing strengths by supporting research that tackles global issues as diverse as carbon capture and the development of diagnostic tools to provide better and more cost effective patient care.

£1.5 million has been donated to the University by the Haydn Green Charitable Trust. This generous gift will allow the University to develop its research and education programmes, benefiting both the local business community and hundreds of entrepreneurial students at all levels of study. We recognise how important it is to support research with no immediate or obvious commercial benefits - but which often leads to world changing inventions - as well as research whose explicit purpose it is to turn discovery into concrete material benefits and products.

We will continue to grow our postgraduate, doctoral training and research programmes across a wide range of disciplines, ensuring that students and staff realise the benefits of state-of-the-art facilities and participation in a dynamic world-class international research community.
